First, I want to share a link with you. Mary at Owlhaven posted a link that talks about why convenience foods (among other things) are rarely a cost saver.
Now, a problem solving solution that should never have happened.
Buying produce at Sam's Club is a gamble. Most of the time, it is good but there is always a time or two where it is bad. Very bad.
Last week I bought oranges at Sam's. After a few days, I noticed that we still have oranges - a truly strange feat in this house - so asked why. Turns out? They are like wood. Because of past experiences, I know better than to throw away the bag, but I was in a hurry and tossed it. So... I am going to zest and try to squeeze any juice out of them that I can. The zest and nonexistent juice will go in the freezer and I will fume about it for a few days. I will of course mention it to them the next time I am there, but I doubt that they will care.
Speaking of buying crappy produce at Sam's. Did you know that they offer a 200% guarantee on all fresh items? Neither did the people at the customer service desk, the customer service manager or the produce manager. When I pointed out that it is their clearly posted policy - by pointing to the clearly posted sign behind them - they didn't know what to do and had to get the store manager. Needless to say, they honored the policy. The truly sad thing is that even though it is always the same few people standing there, I have to go through this every time I return something.
